Our story

Good food, a splash of wine, and nothing wasted.

I Cook With Wine started with a half-finished bottle and a question: what does this actually do in a pan? Hundreds of recipes later, this is the answer.

Why we’re here

The bottle was already open. The food just got better.

Like a lot of people, I used to treat cooking with wine as something other people did — chefs, cookbooks, restaurants. Meanwhile a third of a bottle sat on my counter turning to vinegar, week after week.

Then one slow Sunday I poured it into a braise, and everything changed. I Cook With Wine exists to pass that on: recipes built around the bottle you’ve already opened, with plain-English technique so you understand why it works — not just this once, but every time you cook.

What we believe

Three simple things shape every recipe on this site.

Nothing good goes to waste

That last glass in the bottle is an ingredient, not a problem. Every recipe is designed to put an open bottle to work, and the “use the rest” notes make sure even the final splash earns its keep.

Teach, don’t just feed

Every recipe carries The Wine Note — which wine to reach for, how much to use, and what it’s actually doing to the dish. Learn the moves once, and your everyday cooking gets better across the board, wine or not.

Free, always

No paywall, no premium tier, no “unlock the good ones.” Every recipe is free and always will be. A free account just keeps your favourites and your printable cards in order, and brings a new recipe to your inbox each week.
